A section about family reunions

The picture above and below are two halves of the same picture. It is 23 inches long when printed and doesn't fit very well on a webpage. So we split it in half.

This reunion of the Morgan/Radford/Ross families took place 16 June 1948 at Highland Park in Idaho Falls, Idaho. It is a great reunion record because they left for us a very high quality picture of many of the participants.

We believe person #1 in the picture is Maud Ella Radford Ross. Maud was born in 1892 and died in 1960. When this picture was taken she would have been 56 years old. Her husband, Andrew Jackson Ross, was born in 1889 and died in January 1950. Since Andrew died only a year and a half after this picture was taken he might have been too ill to attend this reunion. Reuben Ross, #4, was a brother to Andrew Jackson Ross and half brother to Francis Marion (Joe) Ross, #20 (Their father, Melvin Ross, married first to Julia Elizabeth Smith and second to Mary Ellen Hadden). Sarah Ann Hardy Ross, #3, was the wife of Ruben Ross.

Person #2 is known to be Julia Elizabeth Ross Radford, daughter of Melvin Ross and his second wife Mary Ellen Hadden. Julia's first husband, John William Radford, is #62 in the picture. After John William died Julia married second to John Robert Spracher (born 1872). Person #63 is Sadie Geneva Radford Durrant, the only daughter of John and Julia Elizabeth Radford. She married Roland Durrant. He is #49 in the picture. Person #60 is Sadie Cleova Durrant Johnson, daughter of Roland and Sadie Geneva Durrant. Person #51 is probably her husband. Their children are #33 amd #34, Timmy Johnson and Bonnie Johnson Hill. So there are four generations of John and Julia Elizabeth's family in this picture.

Julia Elizabeth Ross Radford's sister Mary Ester Ross Stott (1873-1950) is #24 in the picture and her husband Hyrum Stott (born 1897) is #27. Julia's half brother, Francis Marion (Joe) Ross (1865-1949) is #20 and his wife Elvira Ann Peterson Ross is #21. Francis Marion Ross was a son of Melvin Ross with his first wife, Julia Elizabeth Smith. Julia Elizabeth Ross and Mary Ester Ross were daughters of Melvin Ross with his second wife, Mary Ellen Hadden. Mary Ester Ross Stott (24) and Francis Marion (Joe) Ross (20) were brother and sister.

In the William Thomas and Lovina Ross morgan family, person #6 in the picture is Mary Morgan (1907-1999), wife of Kenneth Morgan (Son of William Morgan). Kenneth Morgan, who would have, except for very unusual circumstances, been at the reunion with Mary, is noticeably absent from this picture. He was known to be camera shy. Person #12 is Margaret Mobley Morgan, wife of Kenneth Wayne Morgan. Standing in front of her, barely visible, is #44, Margaret and Wayne's oldest son Robert Morgan. Wayne Morgan, son of Kenneth and Mary Morgan, is also noticable absent from the picture. Wayne, like his father, was also camera shy. Bring out a camera and the two of them would head for cover.

Several sons and daughters of William Thomas and Lovina Ross Morgan are in the picture. Person #8 is Marvin (JP) Morgan (1897-1959)(Son of William Morgan), Person #42 is George William (Will) Morgan (Son of William Morgan), Person #54 is Alvin Elmer (Al) Morgan (Son of William Morgan), person #46 is Clifton (Dick) Morgan (Son of William Morgan), born 2 February 1889, died 4 March 1988, person #25 is Ada Melissa Morgan Radford (Daughter of William Morgan) and person #11 is Orlean Morgan Nield (Daughter of William Morgan). Person #28 is Ruth Stanger Morgan (Wife of Marvin Morgan). George William Morgan's wife was deceased at the time of this reunion. Person #17 is Sarah Anna Barnhart Morgan (Wife of Alvin Elmer Morgan), Person #19 is Cecil Velma Allen Morgan (Wife of Clifton Morgan), Person #23 is Daniel H (Dee) Radford (Husband of Ada Melissa Morgan). Lenard Nield, husband of Orlean Morgan is not in the picture.

In addition, William Morgan's half sister Martha Veletta Morgan Eames (1877-1960) (Person #31) is in the picture. She was a daughter of Thomas Morgan with his plural wife Nancy Jane Radford. Martha was called Aunt Marth by family. Her husband, Samuel Thomas Eames (1870-1950) died less than two years after this picture was taken and may have been too ill to attend. Sam and Martha Eames son, Morgan Eames, is #56 in the picture and his wife, Emma Eames, is #32.

Person #14 is William Brown, #15 is his wife Clara Woolsey Brown (1886-1966), #16 is Sylner (Sy) Bergeman, #18 is his wife Bernice Radford Bergeman (1920-1959). Bernice Radford Bergeman was a daughter of Dee and Ada Morgan Radford.

Person #5 is Eva Amanda Teeples Radford (1886-1976). She was married to John Edward Radford (1883-1958).

Flossie Fletter, #7, was a close friend of the family but at this time this researcher is not sure if she was related.
